Orchestra
In addition to the Culture School's orchestra for children and young people, there is the Sandnes Symphony Orchestra, which is an orchestra for young people and adults.
Sandnes Symphony Orchestra is one of the city's oldest music institutions, founded in 1895. The orchestra currently has approx. 60 members made up of professional musicians and amateurs. The symphony orchestra has a high level of activity with 8-12 concerts/performances per season. These range from traditional symphony concerts, opera, ballet and popular concerts to children's and school concerts.
The orchestra has weekly rehearsals but does not offer individual instrument tuition. It is open to anyone to join the orchestra, but you need to have some experience with playing and reading music.It is therefore common for applicants to audition in order to join. The orchestra has a limited number of places for some instrument groups.
